Nokē Inc.
Creative Director

About:

Nokē Inc. is a digital, smart-access control company that builds smart-locking hardware, powered by a cloud-based app and web portal. This platform has transformed traditional physical security methods across many industrial enterprise-grade industries, and has completely disrupted self-storage security and operations.

As a start up, we all rolled up our sleeves and dug in, together. I worked along-side mechanical and electrical engineers, front and backend devs, and our sales team to build and market Nokē products from the ground up: branding, design, manufacturing, production, marketing and sales.

Nokē Brand Video

Making the Nokē brand video was a blast. Working with a small budget, we used employees and friends as talent, and filmed locally. We intertwined 3 user’s stories to tell one complete brand story.

Project role:

  • Wrote script

  • Storyboard

  • Selected locations

  • Wardrobe

  • VO talent and music

  • Creative Direction on site and with the editor in post

Nokē Rebrand

When I began working at Nokē, the existing logo was nagging at me. It didn’t feel as clean and intelligent as the smart locks and technology-bolstered products we were designing. However, I didn’t want to take away from any brand recognition the company had already attained.

Project goals:

  • Speak smart and user-friendly

  • Streamline and tighten

  • Retain current recognition

  • Embolden and strengthen

Website: noke.com

Before I started the site design, the pursuit to position Nokē as the global leader in industrial access control technology, was at the forefront of the strategy. It was time to take an unsexy and rather boring product and make it sizzle. It was time to turn a dumb lock, really, really, smart.

No website existed yet, so it was an opportunity to create something fresh, not only for the company, but also for the industry. This was a chance to use our web presence to be security hardware disrupters, to deliver a solution that addressed the traditional security pain points, and provide a great user experience for our audience. We set our sights on smart, witty, tough with a double side of technology, and undoubtedly, trustworthy.

Project role:

  • End-to end UX design for SaaS company site

  • Sketched and conceptualized site plan

  • Built Wire frames

  • Wrote all headlines and content

  • Collaborated with team to research and gather all necessary data

  • Created all design assets, illustrations, and photo creation

  • Collaborated with dev team to build responsive WordPress added blog

  • Collaborated with frontend and backend dev team to build and implement

  • Prioritized SEO optimization and analytics to drive and track traffic

Nokē PRO App

Nokē PRO consists of a web portal and an app that is utilized by lock users to control their hardware access. Essentially, this app, holds the keys.

From the MVP stages, to the release, I applied UX and UI design principles to refine user flow and functionality, adjust element hierarchy, and guide the use of our brand ID throughout the app. It was important to understand the behaviors of our users and the situations and environments they’d be in, when engaging with our technology. Following that, I oversaw the UX design creative, created many user elements utilized throughout the platform, and made sure the UX was consistent, between both the app and the web portal.

Project role:

  • Research competitors to improve experience design

  • Collaborate with team to create wire frames and site maps

  • UX and UI creative direction across all collaborative teams to ensure app flows with ease, feels intuitive in use, and is visually on brand and appealing.

  • Design UI elements such as buttons, icons, and illustrations

  • Test UI elements such as CTAs

Nokē Smart Loto App

The Smart Loto app interacts with a smart padlock and replaces an antiquated, traditional padlock and tagging system, with a seamless, secure, and safety- packed, digital lockout process.

The challenge was to not only replicate the life-saving security measures that are followed in LOTO procedures, but to strengthen and streamline the process while following OSHA guidelines. To get a real sense of how the functionality would most benefit workers in the field, testing with applicable companies and launching pilot projects across multiple industries, ensued. As we gathered data and feedback, we designed, launched beta versions, and repeated until we were ready to release the complete system, including a desktop web portal.

Project role:

  • Research competitors to improve safety processes and user experience

  • Apply feedback from the field to sketch, create wire frames and site maps

  • UX and UI creative direction across all collaborative teams to ensure app flows with ease, feels intuitive in use, and is visually on brand and appealing.

  • Design UI elements such as buttons, icons, and illustrations

Video: The Future of Safety Now

I created this Smart Loto video from top to bottom. We needed a cost effective video that showed the power of our product. I wrote the script, hired the VO talent, illustrated all the graphics, and did the animating, editing and production.

Video: The Nokē Smart Locking Solution in Logistics

I created this video from top to bottom. From the script writing, hiring VO talent, all the illustrations and animations, editing and production, I enjoyed making a series of simple, illustrative, use-case, stories, that highlighted the value of our products across different verticals.

Nokē Digital Advertising

Utilizing LinkedIN, Facebook, and additional digital marketing platforms such as partner sites, event sites, and digital trade publications, I wrote the content, created the graphics, and placed our advertising. From a product launch, a new app feature, a video, an update on our website, promoting a show we were attending, or an industry award, lead generation was a consistent, top priority.

Project role:

  • Concepting and designing

  • Copywriting

  • Execution

  • Increase leads

  • Analyze results
